Landmarks is an installation consisting of 8 shapes placed on the ground in Leeds Pond Preserve,  Port Washington, NY.
These shapes are reconstructions of tree, root and branch formations found in wilderness areas throughout the Northeast.
Since the preserve is also the site of a children's science museum, the concept of Landmarks was a scavenger hunt, where
children and adults would search for the shapes from an image "map". The purpose of the work was also to enable people
to look for the unexpected, and to stimulate a sense of discovery.Copyright 2004, John Day
